LeonaLeona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter, actress and activist. Her birthplace was in the London Borough Of Islington she was educated at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis received national recognition by winning the third series of The X Factor in 2006 she was awarded the PS1 million recording contract for Syco Music. The winning single, which was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" which peaked at the top of the charts, reached #1 for several weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke an all-time record of the milestone of 50,000 downloads in just 30 minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February 2007. The success of Lewis continued after the launch of her first Studio album Spirit (2007), which was certified platinum at 10x in the UK as well as becoming the fourth best-selling album of the 2000s and one of the most popular albums sold in UK chart the history of chart. Spirit is, as per Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. The lead single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number one in the UK and was the most-sold single of 2007. It was also the most-sold single during 2008, and Lewis was awarded her Billboard Award for Best New Artist. In 2009, she debuted her sophomore studio album, Echo and also composed the theme song, "I See You", for the film Avatar. Lewis also came out with "Collide" in the year 2011 a joint effort with Swedish DJ Avicii. She also released Hurt which was her EP. her first extended performance. Her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), marked a new creative direction for Lewis taking in dubstep as well as electronic music. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began writing material for her first Christmas album. The Christmas album, with Love was released in late 2013. Its lead single One More Sleep came in at the number three spot in the UK. The chart's entry was what made Lewis to be the first British solo female artist in the top fivespots with eight songs. She also broke Olivia Newton-John's seven record.
